Microsoft to demo new slate PCs, Windows 8 tablet functionality at CES?

The CES 2010 Ballmernote has become something of a black mark for Microsoft -- the company's delivered almost nothing in the year after Steve demoed the HP Slate and talked about future windows 7 Slate PCs -- but as one would assume, Redmond's expected to pick up right where it left off in just a few weeks at CES 2011. According to the New York Times, Microsoft's prepping to explain how it will target the iPad with the help of a number of partners, including Samsung and Dell. While the article is quite vague, it looks like the keynote will include a few new tablet demos, including one of a new Samsung device that sports a "slick" slide out keyboard -- we'd put money on that being the 10.1-inch Gloria. The Times says the Samsung tablet (not to be confused with the Samsung Galaxy Tab) will run some sort of software layer when "the keyboard is hiding and the device is held in portrait mode," but Microsoft's is also reportedly eschewing a central app store for native tablet apps and instead encouraging software companies to build HTML5 -based web apps. That certainly sounds a lot Google's Chrome strategy (and a strategy that could backfire since HTML5 apps will work on Chrome OS devices and iPad equally well), but the Times' source didn't know if these "apps" would be ready for CES as they are "still in production."

As far as we can tell, a lot of this is still built upon Windows 7, but it's also rumored that the Redmond gang will tease Windows 8 on stage -- something that sounds extremely plausible to us, since we've heard from numerous sources that Microsoft's real tablet strategy will rely on Windows 8 and a new all-touch interface that the company has been working incredibly hard on. While Windows 8 isn't due out until the later half of 2011 / early 2012, Ballmer would do well to use his CES time to tell us about Microsoft's "riskiest" product bet and finally do something to address Microsoft's notable absence from the modern tablet market. Of course, nothing's for sure, except for the fact that we'll be there, providing live coverage of the entire thing.Microsoft to demo new slate PCs, Windows 8 tablet functionality at CES? originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 13 Dec 2010 20:04:00 EDT. REVIEW: Samurai Warriors 3 Review

Some games are better off left in Japan.
Samurai Warriors 3 is the third installment in the Samurai Warriors series and the first to be released on a nintendo platform. Even though Tecmo Koei and Omega Force have handled the distribution and development of past games, Nintendo got its hands on Samurai Warriors 3 and published the game in territories outside of Japan. For those expecting the game to be at the same standard as many of Nintendo's other games, they will be disappointed to hear that Samurai Warriors 3 is a horrid entry into the Wii's ever-growing library of games.

Sociopathic Bush Administration

When the U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was questioned by an American soldier about the lack of armor to protect our troops in Iraq, his insensitive response seemed to suggest that the armor is for sissies, because even armored Humvees may explode. The lack of compassion and lack of empathy exemplified by its response reinforces my belief that the Bush administration consistently shows signs of collective behavior.Let sociopath s "take a look at some of the characteristics of sociopathic behavior, as defined by the American Psychiatric Association, and see how they fit: 1. Insensitivity, lack of empathy, irresponsibility and reckless disregard for the safety of others: In addition to the most recent example of Rumsfeld's callous disregard reckless, President Bush routinely exhibits these symptoms. Childhood friends have described how the young George W. Bush attach firecrackers to frogs and blow them up. Decades later, as governor of Texas, Bush mocked and ridiculed desperate plea convicted murderer Karla Fae Tucker for his life. Today, President Bush sends our youth to Iraq to fight a war out of control based on lies, the employment of American vessels abroad, run budget deficits, and is willing to put Security Social hands (and pockets) of Wall Street brokers, it seems, regardless of how this reckless behavior will affect average Americans. He and those closest to him remain secure in their padded cocoons of money, far from the reality that their actions create. 2. Glibness and superficial charm, George W. Bush won the votes with his casual style to the house. He won the support of mothers Cupcake heart and NASCAR dads look like a normal guy. At the height of the 2004 election campaign, when asked which candidate they prefer a beer with 43 percent said they would rather have a beer with President Bush, compared with 25.1 percent for John Kerry. But Bush's frozen smile reveals a smooth talker who tells us that its underlying agenda does not include the purchase of a round at the local tavern for ordinary people. 3. Deception: George HW Bush misled the country when he said: "Read my lips. No new taxes "but that lie did not cost thousands of innocent lives. George W. we send our young men and women in Iraq to fight a war based on false accusations: Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, ties to al-Qaeda, and a grave and growing threat to U.S.. Vice President Cheney still clings to some of these stories, and National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, is Tapdance around the truth in his testimony before the 9 / 11 Commission. This administration does not allow the facts in the way of his agenda. 4. Grandiose sense of self: Having won reelection with 51 percent of the vote (almost a landslide), George W. Bush described his victory as a "mandate." Stated that they have earned "political capital" during the campaign, now intends to spend. The remaining 49 percent of voters will just have to accept it. After all, Bush told an Amish group in July 2004, "God speaks through me." 5. The aggressiveness and the lack of conformity to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors: The Bush administration shows the trends and global scale. Perhaps nothing illustrates this better than the war in Iraq, launched in defiance of international law and the Charter of the United Nations war crimes filled, including the use of indiscriminate weapons against civilian targets and the flagrant and calculated skirting the Geneva Conventions. 6. Impulsiveness and lack of plan for the future: The war in Iraq was not a response to a direct attack. Contrary to the myth all-too-common view that Iraq was involved in 9 / 11, Saddam Hussein was contained and posed no immediate threat to U.S. continental. However, the Bush administration decided to divert troops from their search in Afghanistan for the real threat - Osama bin Laden - and launching an ill-conceived war in Iraq with inadequate supplies and no real exit strategy. And who pays the price? U.S. soldiers and innocent Iraqi civilians do. I'm sure we'll never see Jenna or Barbara Bush reporting for combat. 7. Lack of remorse or guilt, and the fact of accepting responsibility for his actions: Despite all these atrocities, George W. Bush still refuses to admit mistakes. Government officials continue to assure the American people that everything is going well in Iraq and at home. The scariest part is that Bush seems to believe that in fact the rotation. And maybe that's why so many voters who believe too, despite all evidence to the contrary in his face. Cult experts have noted that a number of mind-manipulating cult leaders tend to exhibit many of the characteristics of sociopathic behavior, since the charm and seduce followers in sometimes dangerous situations. U.S. is becoming a cult of blind submission, relying on the right agenda? America needs to wake up before they pass the Kool-Aid.
